A 17-year-old was arrested on Thursday for the alleged murder of a 55-year-old doctor inside his private nursing home in Delhi the previous day.
Dr Javed Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani medicine was allegedly shot by the minor, who claimed he acted out of anger over being charged excessively for the treatment.
One of the boys, said to be the mastermind of the murder, visited a nursing home, Nima Hospital, on the intervening night of September 20-21 in the national capital’s Kalindi Kunj area after he met with an accident in Faridabad.

Dr Javed Akhtar treated him and handed him a bill of ₹ 1,200. The boy accused the doctor for over-charging which led to a heated argument between the teenager and the doctor.
The boy returned to the hospital ten days later to remove the bandages along with his aunt. He alleged that the hospital staff and the doctor denied him the treatment. To avenge this humiliation, he decided to kill the doctor and sought help from two other boys to arrange a pistol.
A day before the murder, one of the aides of the mastermind went to the hospital after suffering an injury. The main objective was to recce the place and gather information. The next day, the he went again saying he wanted to change the dressing. The two boys then went inside Dr. Akhtar’s cabin and shot him dead.
After the incident, the main accused allegedly uploaded a post on social media platform with his photo. The caption said,”Kar diya 2024 mein murder” (Finally committed murder in 2024).
All the three accused have been arrested and are kept in observation home. The pistol with which the boy shot the doctor has also been recovered.
